Editorial Standards & Funding

These Guys Know publishes original tests, research reviews, first-hand guides and analysis. These labels explain how an article was produced and what kind of evidence supports its conclusions.

What the labels mean

Original Test means we used the products or models ourselves and kept a record of the setup, prompts, settings, costs, outputs and failures relevant to the verdict. A test may be small, but readers should be able to understand what we did and what the results actually prove.

Research Review means the conclusions come from published studies, official documentation or other cited material. It is evidence-based reporting, not a claim that TGK conducted the underlying research.

First-Hand Guide means the advice comes from direct use or personal experience. We explain the conditions that matter instead of pretending one person’s experience settles every case.

Analysis combines sourced reporting with TGK’s interpretation. Company claims, established facts and our own judgment should remain distinguishable.

How we test

We publish the details that matter to the result. For AI comparisons, that can include the exact prompt, model version, access route, settings, generation cost and first completed output.

We keep strange results and failed attempts when they affect the conclusion. We do not quietly replace an awkward first result with a better reroll and present that as the test.

Some comparisons also include a public dataset or supporting archive. These files preserve the evidence behind the article; they do not replace the readable explanation published on TGK.

You can find our current tests, methods and supporting files on the How We Know page.

Sources, updates and corrections

We link to primary material where it is available and make clear when information comes from a company, a study, another publication or our own observation.

Prices, product versions and policies change. A dated test records what was available when we conducted it. If a later update materially changes the result, we may update the article or publish a new test rather than quietly rewriting the original record.

If a material fact is wrong, we correct it. Corrections can be sent to contact@theseguysknow.io.

Funding and commercial relationships

These Guys Know is independently owned. We do not currently use affiliate links or earn commissions when readers click a link, buy something, create an account or start a subscription.

We still link to products, apps, tools, platforms and services when they are relevant to an article. At the moment, these are ordinary editorial links.

If affiliate links are introduced, they will be disclosed clearly within the relevant article. An affiliate relationship will not buy inclusion, a favourable verdict or protection from criticism.

Free access, review samples and press materials do not guarantee coverage or a positive review. If a company supplies something used in an article, that relationship will be disclosed.

Any paid placement or sponsored content will be clearly identified. Editorial conclusions remain with TGK.
