# Stock EQ vs Paid EQ Plugins: What You Actually Gain

There is no serious music production without EQ, but there is also no serious reason to keep buying cheap EQ plugins that repeat what your DAW already does.

### What Analog Modelling Can Change

Depending on the plugin, analog modelling may affect saturation, harmonic content, phase behaviour, filter curves and the way controls interact at different gain levels. Some plugins reproduce those characteristics more convincingly than others. Learn why low mids can produce warmth in one context and mud in a crowded arrangement.
